securityProbe Updates

Firmware Update — Download — Release Date 4 February 2020 for the securityProbe 5E, 5ES / 5ESV, X20 and the X60 “Standard” base units ONLY.

If the current firmware update is not uploading, the firmware shipped with the device may be slightly out of date and need a previous firmware version before being able to update to the current firmware.

Older firmware (apply what matches your model, then update to the most current):

  2. We recommend connecting your computer to your sensorProbe using a crossover Ethernet cable during the upgrade.
  3. Start the program IPSet.
  4. Click System Upgrade.
  5. Enter the IP address of your base unit.
  6. Enter the password for your base unit.
  7. Enter the path to the firmware file on your computer, for example:
    c:\downloads\sp-476.zip

FAQ

I have downloaded the .zip file. How do I update my firmware?

Unzip the downloaded file to a folder on your computer, then follow the instructions in the included readme.txt. In short:

  1. Run IPSet (or the web UI on Linux models).
  2. Click System Upgrade and enter your base unit’s IP and password.
  3. Browse to the firmware file (e.g. c:\downloads\sp-476.zip) and click Update.
After installing the updates, do I need to configure anything?

No. The device restarts automatically. Historical sensor data may be cleared (download it beforehand if needed), but your configuration (mail settings, sensor names, etc.) remains intact.

Linux-based models (cP8, sP8L) allow you to back up all configuration settings from the Settings page. You can also back up configuration files on sP2/sP8 using the configure2.2 utility.

Will this update erase my existing settings?

No — your settings remain the same. Only firmware is updated.

Can I perform the upgrade over the internet?

We recommend using a direct connection (crossover Ethernet) to your base unit for reliability, but upgrading over the internet is possible.

  • Open any required ports on your router/firewall.
  • The unit stores the uploaded image fully before flashing, so if the transfer fails the current firmware remains intact.
  • Linux models (sP8L, cP8): upgrade via HTTP (TCP 80).
  • sensorProbe (sP2, sP8): upgrade via TFTP (UDP 69).

Please note: a self-run firmware update is done at your own risk. If you have problems updating your AKCP sensorProbe or securityProbe, contact our support team at support@enviromon.net. During the update, do not interrupt power. After a successful update, wait for the completion message; the device will restart automatically.
